Botanical Path

Discovering the highest alpine flora!

This easy itinerary, about 2.3 km long and with a vertical drop of 53 meters, starts from Passo dei Salati, at 2.936 meters above sea level.

The initial part of the route reach the summit of Corno del Camoscio (3.026 m) which offers an amazing panorama towards the Monte Rosa massif, Punta Giordani and eastern Lyskamm. Città di Mantova and Capanna Gnifetti huts are also clearly visible, located at 3,948 and 3,647 meters respectively.

The path then continues towards Col’Olen and meets Angelo Mosso Research Institute of the University of Turin. Here you can stop for a free guided tour, which enriches and completes the experience on the Cimalegna plateau.

Along the botanical route it is possible to admire the flowering of numerous species from the end of June to the end of August. With the help of the cards located along the path, you can recognize them and get to know the alpine and snowy flora.

To reach the start of the route, use the lifts that reach Passo dei Salati from Alagna!
