The sabot are the typical wooden footwear of the upper Val d’Ayas.  The skill of the sabot cobbler (Sabotier) was once widespread because it allowed them to work during the long winter months, a period when agricultural activity couldn’t be undertaken.  Visit the workshop of the Sabotier in Antagnod and have them make you a pair of tailor-made sabots!
