Following the stretches of the Via Francigena in the Aosta Valley on foot means walking through the old hamlets and splendid castles, stunning churches and important remains of the Roman era whilst always being surrounded by the outline of the Alps.  The stretches from Verres to Pont Saint Martin are rich in cultural features amongst which the splendid Parish Church of San Martino in Arnad, the two old bridges of Echallod and Bard, an exquisite village dominated by the fortress which is home to the Alps Museum, and above all, the entrance to Donnas along the Roman Gaul Road before finishing the stretch in front of the Roman bridge in Pont Saint Martin.
